New Website

Hi,

This is my first post here in a very very long time.

I have a new website: www.tgharrison.com

This blog may be dying so I may soon do a complete content refresh (uploading sketches and in process work here while final images will appear on my website).

Here is a recent sketch though:

Alien Territorial Fight

tripod fight (sig)

A young adult tripod travels out of its typical hunting grounds in search of an area with more abundant food. It just so happens to have stumbled upon the spawning territory of an older, larger, tripod. The older tripod is quick to spot the young adult and engages in a form of threat display. Adults close to spawning gain a brief sense of maternity to ensure the initial survival of their offspring. Threat displays are quick to develop into incredibly violent fights. The young adult knows this and is quick to show signs of submission. It lowers its head against its forearms and gingerly retreats. It would not be able to win out against the stronger, larger and older tripod.

Alien Hunt

Tripod alien (sig)

An adult tripod lunges at a lone polly-limax. The polly-limax leaps clear of the water and evades its attacker.
As more studies where conducted into the bizarre relationship between adult tripods and their spawned young more and more oddities where revealed. Though adult tripods hunt almost any animal smaller then them, there preferred prey seems to be their own young.
Due to the massive quantities of polly-limax spawned, they have become the most abundant food source for tripods in the planetary region. It appears that this relationship between adult and young has been going on for hundreds of thousands of years and appears to have even shaped their own evolution.
They adults have gained a keener eye-sight, adapted for picking up the subtle movements of camouflaged polly-limax.
The evolutionary traits are even more apparent in the young. The body shell that covers the upper portion of their bodies and arm spikes appear to be changes bought about directly from hunting pressure from their own adult forms. In a sense, Tripods are engaged in an evolutionary battle of predator and prey with their own offspring.

Alien Tadpole

Alien Fish (sig)

Polly-Limax
(polly LI-max)
For a long period of time, Polly-Limax (commonly known as “Slug Fish”) was considered a separate species to Tripods. It was later discovered however that Slug Fish are in fact the first life stage (if it can be called that) of a tripod, almost similar to the tadpole stage of am Earth amphibian’s life.
All fully grown adult tripods have the capability of spawning Polly-Limax. In this sense they could be considered asexual. They give birth to them live and in large quantities. When Polly-Limax is first born it is roughly 5cm in length but it quickly grows, over a period of a few days, to its maximum size of between 29-31cm.
Once the Polly-Limax has reached this stage it then goes looking for a second Polly-Limax spawned of a different tripod. The two then mate and then swim away from one another. They try to find an area of moderately deep water and attach themselves to the seabed via their mouthparts.
They then undergo a form of metamorphosis. The fleshy shell on their head and back begin to extend over the rest of the body and the defensive spikes retract. Attached via what used to be the mouth, the Polly-Limax forms a type of cocoon. It is then within this cocoon that the adult tripod grows.
After a months gestation period, two new, adult form, tripods hatch from the two polly-limax that mated. This marks the end of the Polly-Limax’s life. These new individuals are almost identical genetically. It is rare for either young to make it to full size. Many young adult tripods are hunted and killed by larger adult tripods.

Tripod Alien

Oceanus-stridere
(o-KAY-anus steed-eRe)
Oceanus-Stridere is the creatures scientific (latin) name and translates to “Ocean Strider”. The creature is more commonly known as “Tripod” or Tripois”. This second name is apt due to the creatures main distinctive feature of only possessing three primary legs.
Tripods can grow to a size of roughly 1.8-2.2 metres in height. They are the dominate species of the planet “Aqua” (the name of the planet being publicly voted for to directly tie in with the name of the Earth). Again, this name is appropriate as much of the planets surface is one huge ocean broken up by thousands of small islands in the northern and southern hemispheres.
Tripods Occupy the equatorial band of the planet. This area of the planet is dominated by an almost un broken sea that follows the equatorial line. What is unusual about this sea is that its typically no deeper then 200mm. This has given rise to the nickname of this region, The Shallow Sea.
Tripods wade through this region as an apex predator. Besides their three legs, tripods have an abundance of obscure features not seen in large vertebrates on Earth. They have four eyes (2 either side of the head) and four short muscular arms attached to the snout of the upper jaw. These arms are thought to be used to help grab slippery aquatic prey and can be compactly folded away when not in use.

First Official Ship Concept for G.O.S (Pirate Faction)

Pirate Ship V.1

Pirate Ship V.1

The First Official Ship design that I created for the Game “G.O.S” (Galaxy of Sin” (currently awaiting kickstarter funding). This particular ship variant belongs to the Pirate faction, a group the player shall find themselves involved with quite significantly for better or worse.

There are significantly more designs of ships to come along with many other concepts for aliens, weapons, interiors, etc.

G.O.S Concept Art

I have accepted a role as a concept artist for a fledgling Game Studio that has just entered early production on its first title and awaiting kick-starter funding to truly get going. Though most of the details are currently unclear to me I am aware that the game is intended to be an amalgamation between FPS/RPG and set in a SCi-Fi universe.

Ship 1

Ship Design 1

I have already completed some quick early designs for ships and an interior (both standard and destroyed). These images however are very early and do not necessarily represent the final look of the game.

This was one of my quickest paintings yet (2 hours).

*For over 4 years object S31 has remained in a stable Geosynchronous Orbit around Earth. It is theorised that the object possesses massive intelligence. No effort of communication has been successful since its initial arrival where it emitted an intense display of light in response to the cautious approach of the International Space Station.
Very little is actually known about Object S31. It is the topic of much international debate and tension as to how to next proceed. It is stil unclear as to what the object’s intentions are. It is theorised that the object is in fact one singular organism of intelligent design (created by some other intelligent life form) yet this too is the subject of much heated debate.
Though there has been no official go ahead for any nation to further study the object up close, the International Space Station has remained locked in orbit beneath it since its arrival. Due to this, the space station has rapidly under gone hardware repurposing to make it more efficient at close range studies.*

I am currently working on the second album artwork for the electronic artist C.R.&.B (Matt Fletcher). Check out the “C.R.&.B” tab section at the top of the page for more info and links.

Sea Titan

Sea Titan WIP

Still a work in progress. This is the second image in a series of images that I am producing that depict massive creatures in a variety of environments.
